Hoofbeats for Happiness is a horseback poker-run fundraiser sponsored by Eastern Regional Family Resource Network to help benefit disadvantaged children in our area by ensuring the connection of children and their families to helpful and strengthening community services and resources. Lunch included. Limited to the first 125 riders. A cash prize will be awarded to the best hand.

Where is the event located?
Hoofbeats for Happiness trails will be located on Eston Carr Rd. in Maysville, WV.
Directions from from US 48/ WV 55 (Corridor H ): Turn on to Knobley Rd, make a left, in 1.5-2 miles, turn right onto Eston Carr Rd. Event will be on the right in 1 mile.
What is the event’s time schedule?
Gates will open at 9:30am and close at 5:00pm. However, riders may come any time between 9:30am and 5pm, with the last rider departing from the start no later than 5pm. A lunch break will taken at 1pm and will be located at the last station at the cabin**.
**Ropes will be needed to tie horses as cabin is 1 mile from the trailers.
What if I don’t make all the dealer stations by lunch time?
Not a problem, all riders and non – riders can pull missing cards at dealer station #5. If you want to continue to ride after lunch, that is fine.
How will the ride work?
Hoofbeats for Happiness is a ride at your own pace event, following marked trails to dealer stations. This type of ride is also known as a paper chase.
What is a poker run and how does it work?
A poker run is an organized event where participants, usually using motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, horses, on foot or other means of transportation must visit five to seven checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run. The event has a time limit, however the participants are not timed—winning is purely a matter of chance.
Participants will be allowed to buy up to (3) additional draws at any dealer station for the price of $1.00 per extra draw.

Do you supply horses?
No. An organized trail ride is usually made up of people bringing their own horses or riding a borrowed horse from someone they know.
How are the trails?
There will be two (2) trail options. The inner loop is shorter with gentle inclines and suitable for driving, mostly dirt road in open fields. The outer loop is longer and traces the corners of the property and riders will go up and down hills, through woods, open fields, dirt roads, and some gravel/rocks.
Will my horse need shoes?
Horses with average, healthy, trimmed hooves and can be ridden in this location with no issues.
